Tibia: Forever

Classic 7.7 Tibia, here to stay, forever.

Open PvP world with the skull system. Standard rates: 1× experience, skills, magic and loot, as in the original game.

What this is

Tibia: Forever is a home for the classic game: the original 7.7 world and rules from 2006, played at the original pace. It stays loyal to that experience, and characters are never wiped.

It won’t stand still, though. New content and quality of life changes are planned for the future, added carefully so they fit the old game instead of replacing it.

How to join

  1. Create an account.
  2. Write down your account number. This game logs you in with a number, not a name. The server picks it and shows it once the account is created.
  3. Download the original Tibia 7.72 client for Windows and unzip it somewhere like C:\Games\Tibia772. The client isn't hosted here; community archives have it, for example this one (pick Tibia772.zip).

Then point the client at this world. There are two ways to do it; pick the one you prefer.

Choose one to see the remaining steps.

  1. Download the patch file and run it in the client folder.

Put OTForeverPatch.bat in the unzipped folder, next to Tibia.exe, and double-click it. It creates Tibia772-forever.exe, a copy of the client that connects to this world. The original Tibia.exe is left as it is; you can delete it afterwards if you like.

Not the same as Patch.exe. The client folder already contains a file called Patch.exe; that is CipSoft’s old updater and won’t connect you to this world. Leave it alone and run OTForeverPatch.bat, the file you downloaded here.

Windows will probably say “Windows protected your PC” because the patch is a plain script, not a signed program. Choose More info, then Run anyway. You can open the file in Notepad first to read exactly what it does.

  2. Play. Start Tibia772-forever.exe, enter your account number and password, and pick your character.
What the patch file does, step by step
  • Checks that Tibia.exe is the original, unmodified 7.72 client by its checksum, and stops if it isn't.
  • Writes Tibia772-forever.exe, in which the five login server addresses point at this world and CipSoft's encryption key is replaced by the one this world uses.
  • Checks the result's checksum. It downloads nothing, installs nothing and doesn't need administrator rights.
  1. Get an IP changer for old Tibia clients. It has to replace the RSA key as well as the address; most that support 7.7 and later do.
  2. Point it at this world.
    Address
    otforever.net
    Port
    7171
    Client version
    7.72

If your tool only accepts a numeric address, use 178.104.66.48; that one can change if the server ever moves.

Many IP changers only change the client that is running at that moment, so you repeat this each time you start the game.

  3. Play. Enter your account number and password in the client and pick your character.

The current Tibia client from tibia.com will not connect; this world needs the 7.72 client from 2006.
